Ross McLeod was a tenured professor of sociology at the University of Regina, specializing in the sociology of knowledge before entering the security industry. The firm he founded in 1982, INTELLIGARDE® would come to redefine the limits, roles, responsibilities and mandates of the private security industry.
An innovator, Ross introduced new concepts and tools to the industry like high authority uniforms, external body armour, batons, fully dressed patrol cruisers and routine use of arrests.

Ross is very active in forming industry associations such as the Association of Professional Security Agencies (A.P.S.A) and the International Association of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design practitioners (C.P.T.E.D.). He is a past Chair of the Toronto Chapter of ASIS International, the industry’s largest professional association.
Ross is president of Intelligarde®, which is headquartered in Toronto’s Port area.
