My name is Phillipe Payeur. I'm 24 years old and was born and raised in Quebec. I have a college degree in security and have been working in the industry for the last 2.5 years, first in special summer events and then in a hospital. It was a good start, but I wished to orient my future in law enforcement area and needed to know if I had what it took to join any police force I desired. I then heard of "Intelligarde". No other companies were providing the same amount of training and law enforcement related experiences. So I packed my bags and joined the ranks. I became an Intelligarde Security Guard and gained a lot experience in public relations as well as street knowledge. From Intelligarde I received all the tools necessary to perform my duty in a safe and professional way—basic law training, self-defense, tactical handcuffing, baton, K9 training and other work-related training. I worked my way up to Intelligarde’s Mobile Unit. Come on my “virtual ride-along.”

16:00 My day starts with a briefing on the day’s events. I pick up my equipment, my K9, and my cruiser. Throughout the night I’ll conduct multiple patrols of different properties, concentrating on prohibited activities, collecting information, or simply helping visitors with a parking problem.

I arrive on site for my first patrol, a subsidized townhouse complex. It’s a community-based patrol. My goal is to keep high visibility and talk with tenants.

19:21 I receive a call from Dispatch: two youths are stuck between floors in an elevator. The Fire Department is already on site. They brief me on the situation—there are no medical emergencies. The Fire Captain relies on me to help free the youths. I call my Dispatcher who communicates with the elevator company, who will send someone to rescue the youths. I give my Dispatcher a brief description and receive an incident number that will accompany my detailed report.

22:36 I’m dispatched to assist a nearby static unit with a foot pursuit. I get the description and direction of a male subject. Another mobile unit is dispatched. The male is apprehended and put in restraints. A hostile crowd is forming. The Police and a third Intelligarde mobile unit are dispatched for our safety. The crowd disperses, the subject is released to Police custody, and all units exchange info and return to their duties.

01:12 On patrol I notice small group in the playground with open alcohol and narcotics being smoked. I fall back and call for another unit. My partner and his K9 arrive and circle back to cut off the way out. We approach together and take down name, address and D.O.B. One of the males seems nervous and keeps changing the spelling of his name. The subject is put under arrest for trespassing. Police verify his identity. He is given a Provincial Offence Ticket and escorted off the property.

03:47 A tenant in one of our buildings complains of loud music coming from the apartment above. Upon my arrival, I verify the situation with the tenant, then the one upstairs. She informs me she’s having a get-together with an old friend. I ask her to turn it down. Music is turned down.

04:45 Back at base I debrief with my fellow agents on tonight’s events. I return my equipment and wash my cruiser.
